Besides actually being named the artist of the decade at the recent American Music Awards, Taylor Swift has broken boundaries in the past ten years. 2010 Taylor Swift- 2019 Taylor Swift are entirely different people.

Swift received the artist of the decade award last month, followed by a resounding speech by Carole King.

“Her lyrics resonate across the generations, her songs touch everyone, and her impact across the world is extraordinary,” King revealed.

Taylor Swift’s lyrics are known to reach far and wide as it’s no secret she has accomplished much in the past ten years. So for all you Swifties out there, these are the Taylor Swift highlights of the past decade:

2010
Taylor released her third album, Speak Now, which quickly became the fastest-selling digital record by a female artist.

2011
T-Swift had an insanely successful world tour and received artist of the year and favorite country album at the American Music Awards.

2012
The ever-famous album, Red, was released this year, which includes timeless favorites like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

2013
2013 is the year T-Swift gave acting a try, with cameos in New Girl and The Giver.

2014
Taylor released her first pop album, 1989, which did extremely well- even with the new music genre.

2015
As 1989 continued to succeed, Taylor released the “Bad Blood” music video and was spotted with DJ Calvin Harris.

The same year, Taylor Swift and Kanye West shockingly made amends following their VMAs incident back in 2009.

2016
Following the short-lived Swift-Kanye friendship, Kanye released “Famous,” which hinted that it was his doing that made Taylor famous. To which Taylor responded respectively, in true Swift fashion.

2017
Taylor Swift won a court case against radio personality David Mueller for sexual assault. Taylor released her sixth album, Reputation, later that month, which consisted of darker tone unknown to Swift before.

2018
Following the release of Reputation, Taylor Swift used this opportunity to speak up. She won AMA awards for the tour of the year, artist of the year, favorite pop/rock female artist and favorite pop/rock album. She also publicly debuted her political stance for the first time and signed a new music deal with Universal Music Group.

2019
Just released this past August, Lover, is Taylor Swift’s seventh album. She was named artist of the decade at this year’s American Music Awards, and Billboard declared her the first-ever woman of the decade.

The past decade certainly wasn’t easy on Taylor, but she proves that hardships only make you stronger.
