Whether you’re traveling for the holidays or a vacation, maintaining your habits while traveling can be tough, especially when it comes to your workout routine.

Keeping up a healthy lifestyle in our comfort zone is one of the main reasons our workouts pay off. Once you’re out of that comfort zone, for example, your favorite gym or your equipment, it can be challenging to keep up. But here are five simple ways to stay in shape while traveling.

Hotel or resort

First of all, if you’re staying in a hotel or a resort, chances are they have an equipped gym for you, which can be very convenient since you won’t have to leave the hotel and you’d also have a lot of workout options. They typically have some weights, a treadmill, and possibly a stationary bike.

Another thing to keep in mind is if your hotel has a pool, it can be an excellent way to work out (and relax!) in case the gym is not available. You can also use them both by taking a swim after a workout to cool down your muscles and relax.

YouTube

YouTube is an excellent source of different workout videos and fitness programs; they even have many workout videos specifically created for travelers. You can also lookup at-home workouts without equipment. That way, you can enjoy an excellent workout wherever you want.

Fitness app

A fitness app can be convenient in case of traveling. Not only does it keep track of your workout and progress, but it offers a range of workout videos perfect for an at-home workout while traveling. My favorites are Beachbody on demand for hundreds of workout videos you can choose from, or asana rebel if you’re more into a chill yoga workout to unwind, especially with exhaustion that usually follows up a trip, not to mention the jet lag.

Travel accessories

And of course, you can pack some of your workout gear to go. You can pack some workout clothing depending on the weather, some resistance bands for training, gliding discs, or even a jumping rope. These items are lightweight and easy to travel with, not to mention super handy for working out while traveling.

Outdoor workouts

Another fun way to include your exercises while traveling is to go outside! You can go for a bike ride or a jog. It’s a nice way to explore while maintaining a healthy workout routine.
