It’s hard to tell who Men’s Health magazine is trolling in their new feature story entitled “Why Is Justin Bieber on the Cover of Men’s Health Mag?” We were all too happy to laugh at Justin Bieber’s maybe-maybe not retouched body when he posed for a series of Calvin Klein advertisements. But as Bieber’s PR team is only too happy to admit, it turns out he’s been pumping iron in an attempt to remake himself into a “more manly” image. Lifting weights also gives Justin the strength and endurance he needs to crash Porsches and punch paparazzi. (Reminder, ladies: our low testosterone levels mean we should all be strength training, but won’t end up looking like the Biebs 2.0.)

Bieber sat down with the fitness experts over at Men’s Health to share some wise words on wisdom and maturity. He even managed to lift a weight in the video below.

On his new body: ”Yeah, you know I’m just getting bigger, man. It’s like, my shoulders don’t fit in some things.”

On maturing: “There’s a part of me that I don’t ever want to grow up. I want to always remain…to have that sense of purity inside of me where I don’t…I don’t want to lose that sense of purity.”

Biggest misconception about you: “That I’m self-centered.”

On the past year: “This has really been a big year for me, as far as figuring stuff out. This is almost like a full 180 from how I was. Yesterday—a year from yesterday—I was in jail.”
