If you dedicatedly take calcium pills daily, it may be all for nothing! According to two recent studies, increasing your calcium intake may not have a beneficial impact on bone health. Though the first study found that upping your calcium intake does increase bone mineral density, it’s so minuscule (only one to two percent) that it’s unlikely to prevent bone fractures. The second study unveiled that no clinical studies show evidence that increased calcium is associated with fracture prevention. Professor Karl Michaëlsson from Uppsala University in Sweden suggests that “most will not benefit from increasing their intakes and will be exposed instead to a higher risk of adverse events.”
