“Brain food” doesn’t just mean eating your veggies – studies have proven that maintaining a brain-healthy diet reduces your risk of Alzheimer’s. “A brain-healthy diet is one that reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes, encourages good blood flow to the brain and is low in fat and cholesterol,” says Nancy Udelson, the executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Cleveland Area Chapter. Brain-healthy foods include fruits, vegetebles, nuts, legumes, seafood and heart-healthy canola and olive oils. “Bad fats” can clog arteries in your brain just like they clog arteries in your heart. Focus on healthy fats instead!
