Being a parent can have its ups and downs, but the benefits are worth even the most stressful moments (sleepless nights, temper-tantrums, the “why” game). Not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful aspects of a child’s curiosity, creative mind and kind heart, but according to a study conducted in the UK, being a mother may actually extend your life. Over the course of 13 years, researchers analyzed the lives of nearly 323,000 women from 10 European countries. They found that women who had children were a fifth less likely to die within that time, and women who had children in their 20s seemed blessed with a significantly healthier life. They also found that women who had two to three children were less likely to die from cancer than others. And women who breastfed were 8 percent less likely to die than women who bottle fed!
