A recent study out of the University of Chicago found that moderately drunk participants spotted differences between two sets of pictures more quickly than their sober counterparts. And in an earlier study, the same researchers observed that intoxication facilitates creative problem solving. Sometimes, focusing too intensely on strategy makes us miss small or far-flung alternatives. Drinking decreases focus and, voilà, eureka moment. (Note that the study looked at “moderately drunk” people. Please, hit the bottle wisely!)
