By now, we know that the chemicals from pollution are a major ager. Think duller, wrinkled skin and weathered arteries and lungs. But new research also shows a weak association between exposure to traffic-related pollution during pregnancy and the risk of the baby developing autism. Pollution is a risk factor for adults, too: some studies have linked it to the risk of developing Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

A good rule of thumb: Make sure some green’s in sight of your home, and open your windows to let fresh air in!
