Feeling chilly? A chick-flick might be in your future. According to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research, feeling physically cold makes you seek emotional warmth, like the kind you get from romantic movies. In one experiment, subjects were asked to drink warm or cold tea and then rent a movie, and amazingly, the cold drinkers picked lovie-dovie films more often.

In another, subjects picked a movie after exposure to a cold or warm room; the chilly-willies, again, were more likely to pick romantic films. But before you crank down the thermostat to seduce someone, remember this: Research also says being warm increases warm feelings about others!
