So you went vegan for the New Year, and now it’s time for your first trip and you’re worried about dining options while traveling. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

The vegan diet can be hard to keep when traveling. Here are some vegan options at common fast-food chains that you can grab on the go at the airport:

Wendy’s

Wendy’s has a variety salad that can easily be made vegan. All you have to do is order them without meat and cheese. Or, you can go for the plain baked potato.

Burger King

Burger King is one of the most vegan-friendly fast-food chains! You can get a regular garden side salad, which is already vegan. But, if you’re looking for something a little tastier, the french toast is entirely vegan! Or even better- Burger King recently came out with the Impossible Burger Whopper, which tastes like the real thing. Just make sure you ask for no cheese or mayo!

Chick-fil-A

Although Chick-fil-A is known for their chicken, they have some pretty great vegan options. The fruit salad and waffle potato fries are tasty airport snacks to bring with you on the go. And the superfood side salad is hearty and delicious, full of broccoli, kale, and a roasted nut blend.

An alternative to eating out at the airport is also being smart about packing nutritious vegan snacks. Most of the food they give out during the actual flight isn’t vegan-friendly, so it’s best to pack your own. Load up on vegan protein bars, pack baggies of fresh veggies, or even make an easy pasta and keep it in a Tupperware. You can also ask the flight attended for hot water for oatmeal.

Traveling being vegan doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. There are more and more plant-based options becoming available in fast-food chains, but if not, you can always fall back on bringing your own food.
