The comfort of warm cereal isn't the only reason this big-smiled celeb eats her oatmeal, egg and avocado breakfast. Oats contain a specific kind of fiber called beta-glucan that helps lower cholesterol. So who is she?
The Pretty Woman’s trainer, Kathy Kaehler, whose celebrity clientele also includes Jennifer Aniston and Kim Kardashian, swears by this healthy, superfood-filled breakfast: Oatmeal with egg and avocado (trust us).
“Instead of cooking the oatmeal with water, use low-sodium vegetable or chicken broth,” suggests Kaehler.
Cook the oatmeal until the broth is completely absorbed and then crack an egg into the oatmeal. Once the egg is cooked and stirred in, remove the oatmeal-egg mix from the heat, dice one half of an avocado and toss that in (try a dash of hot sauce for a kick). “You’re getting protein, fat, carbs and fiber, as well as a host of vitamins and minerals,” Kaehler says. “And because of the fat and fiber, you’re definitely full.” Best of all, you can make a big batch on Sunday night and have breakfast ready to go each morning—with just a quick zap in the microwave to reheat.
Before she became one of Hollywood's most successful stars, rumor has it that this omelet-eating actress made her living as a waitress. Can you guess who?
Aniston, who rocks one of the most beautiful bodies in Hollywood, is a big fan of high-protein diets, so it’s no surprise she kicks off her day with an egg white and chicken omelet paired with a few slices of avocado and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, according to Carrie Wiatt, celebrity nutritionist and founder of Diet Designs, a healthy meal delivery service.
“The eggs are a perfect protein source as well as the avocado, which is packed with monounsaturated fat and anti-inflammatory nutrients,” explains Wiatt. Adding a cup of mixed berries on the side adds antioxidants and phytochemicals to create a hearty, satisfying meal.
It takes a quick and easy energy-boosting breakfast to handle the early hours needed from this morning show co-host. Who do you think loves this super smoothie in the wee hours?
The endlessly energetic Ripa fuels up with an EBOOST AM Smoothie. Here’s how to make her tasty breakfast shake: Take one pack of orange-flavored Eboost, 1/2 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries, one banana, 12 ounces of almond milk and blend. “The EBOOST AM Smoothie boosts your mood, focus and immunity with natural ingredients like vitamins C, D and B-12, green tea and folic acid,” notes nutritionist Sharon Richter.
Bialy is a Yiddish-derived word that comes from the name of a city in Poland. Can you guess which chart-topping artist loves the baked version? Hint: She is not Polish. California born, she has Irish, Scottish, Mexican (from a great-grandmother) and Native American ancestry.
Like most of us, Fergie wants to watch what she eats, but she doesn’t want to feel starved and deprived. So Wiatt customized this tasty and nutritious breakfast for Fergie (no, it’s not black-eyed peas): a bialy, low-fat cottage cheese and sliced tomatoes.
“This breakfast is a perfect balance of protein (cottage cheese), fiber (bialy) and antioxidants (tomatoes) to help keep Fergie satisfied,” says Wiatt. “She loves that she can feel like she’s indulging, while eating healthy, portioned controlled meals to start her day right!”
Yummy Yogurt Parfait
For a life of portraying brave and fit women in film, this chic actress needs serious health and wellness. Before she goes into a day of flying or straps on her gloves, she gets her fuel with this nutritious breakfast. Who is she?
FITiST nutrition expert Oz Garcia, Ph.D., recommends the Oscar winning actress go Greek when it comes to breakfast—namely, a combination of high quality Greek yogurt with mixed organic berries and sliced raw almonds. “The yogurt is beneficial since it contains live active cultures (probiotics), as well as calcium and protein,” notes Garcia.
“The berries are a great source of antioxidants and the almonds supply healthy fat and protein.” According to Garcia, eating a high protein breakfast like this one can help to stabilize blood sugar and keep you full longer.
Bronx-born and multi-talented, this backup-dancer turned actress (then recording artist, producer, fashion designer and now TV personality) uses healthy shakes to keep her most valuable asset—her body—fit and ready for anything. Can you guess who?
It’s no surprise that the busy American Idol judge and mother of two needs a healthy breakfast that she can grab on the go. Her favorite way to start the day? An Optimal Cleanse protein shake.
Nutritionist Haylie Pomroy recommends the shake to her celebrity clients (Robert Downey, Jr. is also a fan) because it’s packed with filling, rice-based protein—a whopping 26 grams—and is all natural and organic.
“It gives you tons of energy and nutrients so it’s a great way to kick off the day or even have before working out,” says Pomroy. Just blend two scoop of the powder into a chilled bottle of water (no blender required, if you don’t have access to one) and you’re good to go. “You can also add some cinnamon—a great metabolism enhancer, which also helps stabilize blood sugar,” she says.
