One reason for this is that when you focus on your weight, you’re likely to lose sight of the other benefits of exercise, such as a healthy brain, strong muscles and stable mood. That makes going to the gym far less appealing than looking at the complete picture. Not only that, but focusing heavily on weight or appearance is largely about pleasing others. Truly successful exercise motivations are intrinsic, that is, focused on you—your health, wellbeing and enjoyment.
