If you’re looking to improve your memory, you may want to amp up your leg days! Your legs not only support your body, they support your mind – at least that’s what scientists are suggesting. According to a new study, individuals who had powerful legs maintained stronger memories and sharper minds as they aged. Researchers evaluated 324 British female twins’ current fitness and mental levels and compared them to results from 10 years earlier. They found that the twin who had greater physical dexterity earlier in life showed slower decline in cognitive function as they aged compared to her weaker sister. In fact, the fitter twins outperformed their siblings by 18 percent on cognitive and memory tests, and also had more brain density.
