Miley Cyrus recently shared that not all of her relationships have been “straight” or “heterosexual.” Now the pop singer/ex-child star expands on her sexuality in a new interview with Paper magazine, saying, “I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal.”

The former Disney actress said she considers both her sexuality and gender identity fluid, elaborating to the magazine:

“Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”

Her fans are aware of her high-profile romances with Liam Hemsworth, Nick Jonas, and recently with Patrick Schwarzenegger, but Cyrus says she’s also had “romantic entanglements” with women that were equally serious. They flew under the radar, and she let them. Now, at age 22 – perhaps as part of her charity work with the Happy Hippie Foundation, a charity organization she started to raise money and awareness for homeless LGBT youth – Cyrus going public.

Cyrus also recounted in Paper her first discussion of her sexuality with her mother, Tish Cyrus, who she affectionately calls a “conservative-ass motherfucker,” at age 14. “I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant,” Cyrus explained. “And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys.”
Her mother didn’t react as Cyrus would have liked – at first. “And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn’t want me to be judged and she didn’t want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has.”
Cyrus says she doesn’t judge others and, as we all know, she doesn’t care what you think of her. “As long as you’re not hurting anyone, your choices are your choices,” said Cyrus.
Sounds like a healthy attitude to us!
