Sun Damage on a Cloudy Day

When it’s cold and gray outside you won’t get burned—UVB rays, which cause sunburn, soften in winter—but longer-wave UVA rays are as strong as ever, so sun damage is still a major concern. UVA radiation causes sunspots, discoloration and wrinkles. Wearing sunscreen year-round prevents up to 24 percent of skin aging (not to mention cutting cancer risk from both UVA and UVB rays). Make sure to cover up with a full-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen every day, no matter the weather.
