This season at Milan Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana chose to celebrate not just high fashion, but also motherhood. The designers made their show all about “mamma” and her babies, with little ones walking (and being carried down) the runway with their model mammas, in mini-me versions of shift dresses and lacy, feminine skirts. Some clothes even featured needlework designs and words like “I love you, mamma” and “Per la mamma più bella del mondo” (for the most beautiful mother in the world), CNN reported.

But the most beautiful part was seeing a very visibly pregnant model, Bianca Balti, walk the runway. Balti, a “muse” for Dolce & Gabbana who has appeared in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in past years, is six-months-pregnant with her second child.

It’s not so often that we see an industry known for promoting sex appeal glorifying motherhood  When a pregnant model walked the runway in a bikini back in 2012 (also in Milan), there was a bit of controversy — with some hateful internet commenters even daring to call it “desperate” and “distasteful.” But Balti and Dolce & Gabbana are getting nothing but praise for celebrating women’s bodies in this way. We are so happy to see a pregnant woman’s body being celebrated at Fashion Week and getting the positive press it deserves! Here’s to all the gorgeous, glowing pregnant ladies out there whose bodies are doing incredible, beautiful things. We hope you’re out there flaunting it on your own (presumably less couture) stage.
