New workouts pop up every day, and wouldn’t it be nice to try before you buy? In our Last Night’s Workout series we sweat, stretch and shimmy our way through the latest exercise crazes and report back to you so you can find the best one for your skill level and fitness goals.

I know you’re all thinking that Physique 57 isn’t technically a new workout, but it’s one of those exercise establishments that seems to have their own cult-following without any new members. It’s great to have such a loyal group of followers, but what about the rest of us who haven’t even given the coveted class a try? As one of the girls who was wary about adding another cult fitness chain to my roster, I realized I couldn’t knock it ’till I tried it and decided to sign up for my first class. Although I’m still quite the SoulCycle and boxing chick, I am happy to say that Physique 57 will be my newest addition to my workout routine. Consider me a convert!

The Workout: Physique 57 is a blend of barre exercises, cardio, strength training, stretching and recovery, all in one 57 minute workout. Each interval set uses your own body weight as resistance, which turns out is a lot harder than you may think! Between the squat pulses, and the multiple ab-chiseling moves, this workout was one for the books.

The Goal: The workout swears to sculpt your body into long, lean muscles. Considering it was full of micro-movements and repeated muscle-burning strength training exercises, I can see why people become hooked on this body-changing workout. My thighs, butt and abs were extremely sore the next day, making me realize that with repeated class attendance, it’s definitely possible to get the toned legs and arms that I’m looking for.

The Location: I attended my first class in the NYC location, however, Physique 57 is also located in Beverly Hills, CA, the Hamptons, and Dubai. If those locations aren’t convenient to you, they also provide online workouts that range from 10 to 37 minutes each, so you can try Physique 57 in your own home!

The Price: A single class is $36, but there are multiple class packages available for those who want more of a commitment. For the online class, you can rent one for $5-$7 or try a monthly subscription for $57.
