Researchers in Germany found that when people came home from work very stressed out and watched television or played video games, they didn’t feel relaxed or recovered afterward. To the contrary, they had high levels of guilt and feelings of failure. When we’re particularly fatigued, we’re more prone to think of our media use as a form of procrastination and a sign that we lack self-control. (Important note: When you’re not all that stressed, unwinding in front of the TV is a-ok.)
