Through the Gates Foundation, Bill Gates spends most of his free time and money helping fund projects that will better the world. The latest proof that he’s helping the best and brightest create life-changing innovations for the developing world? Gates himself enjoying a cool, refreshing glass of water … made from poop. The Janicki Omniprocessor is a sewage treatment system in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, funded by the Gates Foundation which turns waste into things that developing nations are lacking: clean water and electricity. “Over 2.5 billion people have no access to safe sanitation,” Gates explained, which is what encouraged him to invest in such a project. And it seems that the processor gets the job done. In a blog post, Gates noted: “The water tasted as good as any I’ve had out of a bottle. And having studied the engineering behind it, I would happily drink it every day. It’s that safe.” Welp, if it’s good enough for Bill, it’s good enough for anyone! An entrepreneur in a developing country could make money every single day from both the clean drinking water and electricity the low-cost processor produces. Later in the year, it will be set up in Senegal, for a pilot study on how it really helps and betters the community. If all goes well, the plan is to get these sewage systems up and running in many other countries throughout the developing world.Watch the video below to see just how the omniprocessor turns feces into crystal clear H2O.Related Articles: This Soap Company Also Helps Fund Clean Water ProjectsNo Filter: The Dirty Truth About Water
