As a classically trained ballerina turned yogi, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the Barre3 class I popped into last week, but I was pleasantly surprised. I left class feeling refreshed and energized (though maybe the ginger shot from the juice bar downstairs helped with that!). It was a tough workout and I was sore (but not too sore) for two days after class. My instructor was Dino and he had amazing energy.
The workout: Barre3 is a workout based on three disciplines: ballet, yoga, and pilates. You’ll do a lot of isometric “one inch” moves as well as fluid motions that target a ton of muscles that you probably didn’t even know you had. As you fatigue the larger muscles that you normally use, your smaller muscles get to work and your legs will likely start to shake. I definitely fatigued my muscles because I was shaking off and on throughout the class.
The goal: to strengthen your entire body and improve your overall wellness. They specifically highlight the toned upper body, strong core, and shapely legs you can achieve by doing their workouts.
The price: Pricing varies by region. NYC is more expensive (as usual!) than the rest of the country. A single class in NYC is $33 vs. $20 in Portland. Individual class prices go down as you buy a package of multiple classes. For full pricing, location, and package options, visit the Barre3 website. They also offer online options including workouts and eating plans.
The deal: Barre3 is generously offering YouBeauty readers a promo code for a free 15-day trial of barre3 Online, valid until 12/31/15. Simply use code B3YOUBEAUTY at checkout to get your free access.
